2021 – What’s the plan
Dear Cheese and Wine lovers
With the new year come new challenges and new hopes and dreams. Hopes that we can get back to hanging out with friends, toasting to a beautiful friendship, sitting in your favorite restaurant and enjoying a meal not being served by the Lone Ranger. Dreams of giant cheese and charcuterie boards run through our heads and can’t wait to open a large format bottle again!
Monica and I, and the entire staff want to give a heartfelt Thank You to all of our customers. The kindness and respect that you have shown us during this very challenging time has been incredible. We are only as good as your last experience and we hope that 109 has been making the year of Covid a little brighter.
For our Kent peeps, we are working on getting our wonderful store in The Barns back open for early Spring so we can all sit under the big Maple and enjoy the perfect cheese plate or sandwich.
In the meantime, deliveries will continue and curbside is always an option.

2020 Reflection
A New Year is upon us. Let’s stay safe & healthy
Monica and I have been reflecting on what can only be called a very challenging year for everyone. It has brought out the best in many. As small business owners in two wonderful Connecticut towns, Monica and I (Otis too) feel extremely blessed to have such an amazing client base. You guys have been beyond amazing and have consistently reminded us of why this is what we do. I remember the first 8 weeks of the pandemic when Monica and I were the only two allowed in the store and how somehow a 16 hour day was normal. We slowly began to bring back staff and created a new operating platform that worked. None of this would have happened if not for Monica. She attacked our online ordering platform and rewrote the entire site in just days, and coordinated everything. As many of you know, she is my best friend and life partner and I consider myself blessed everyday. You begin to have a completely new understanding of staff and also what the customer interaction actually means when you are confronted with these challenges. Again, we are blessed and extremely fortunate. This year also has brought my mother, Rhoda (Rhoda’s Chicken Soup) to our home permanently. We started the construction of the Rhodhaus addition in the middle of all of this and with the amazing help of a great architect and builder we should have a completed space by March. We have all been challenged and pushed more than we ever expected.
From our family to yours, May 2021 bring you health, happiness and a sense of normalcy back to our lives. I look forward to shaking hands, seeing smiles and giving hugs in 2021!

Do it yourself platters make it easy and allow you to pickup on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to avoid the lines and waiting.
Wonderful gifts for the home and the chef are still in stock! We just received a new order of beautiful candles just in time for Christmas!

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it! Monica and I and the entire 109 team are here to try and make this as perfect a Thanksgiving as we can for you. We will be doing our platters as usual, so bring us your favorite platters or use one of ours.
Because of the pandemic we will be trying to expedite as many orders via phone as well as in our Ridgefield store. We will be doing lots of deliveries and curbside pickups as well. Please be mindful that we just won’t have the ability to have as many people in the store as usual, but will figure out how to make sure everyone gets what they need for a happy and peaceful Holiday.
